This saturday will be the last practice for the Motor City Petanque Society because Sunday we go for the gold at Royal Oak at 1:00 p.m.

The Motor City's bad boy TonyT will team up with me for the gold to win it all.

It was hot as heck on Saturday at Campus Martius Park, but thankfully, the Dr. Pepper trucks rolled in distributing free samples of their newest flavors. Gene and Sharon are offering their critiques...

...... It looks good for this summer. As you know I am a member of the Detroit club as well as President of the Motor City Petanque Society. We will be doing a member recruiting drive at Campus Maritus Park on Saturday, May 27, 2006 (from 12:00 p.m. till 3:00 p.m.) to join.

The membership fee is only... FREE! FREE that's all ...to learn a fun sport and have a great time. So come on down to Detroit's Hottest petanque place and sign up. We play every day at 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. Come check us out

Though it was a little damp out, we had a great turnout of players on Saturday. We even had some guests from the Chicago Petanque Club (Armin & Anne).

Today I learned alot on how to improve my game. When you play someone that is better then you the first rule is to watch the other player closely to see what they're doing that you are not; second: relax. Don't get all tensed up. Remember this is a learning experience. Third: play your best at all times and don't grip the ball to tightly. Let it roll off your fingers for short plays and a light back spin with a 12 1/2 inch drop from the cochon to roll the tight point.

This makes the shooter waste the shot and builds your game.

As I approached the pistes to play our usual lunchtime session of petanque at Campus Martius Park I spotted Gene S. doing some pro-Detroit Pistons promotions nearby.

There's always something going on at C-Mart (Smart) - it's the Times Square for the MidWest.

Hi, sorry I been in court lately, but here's an update:

The Motor City Club will start up in July. We will look forward to seeing you at Campus Maritus soon.

We had a great time at the Detroit Club's tournament on last Saturday. We did well, coming in second.

It was a gloriously sunny day this past Saturday and Gene had plenty of opportunities to both play and teach petanque.

Sorry I haven't updated this blog-site since my Birthday; but we had a great time in Campus Martius Park.

The Detroit Petanque Club gave Joe and me a party on 4/8/06. I am now ??? years old - (you guess!)

Come on down to Campus Martius and play with us and live a little!
